Marta Barron - vocals/percussion

I started singing my freshman year in high school after being taunted by friends to try out for the talent show! I had previously been in choir, but did they expect me to sing alone in front of a bunch of people??  I was traumatized but decided to go ahead and give it a whirl!  I was really scared and intimidated, but I took first place!  That freed me up to have confidence in myself so I tried out for all the musicals after that.  My senior year, I got the lead part of Marian the Librarian in The Music Man!  You could not stop me singing after that.

I graduated and at the age of 19, had an audition to sing with a group called the Reflections!  After about 1 year, the Exceptions (whom I had adored at prom and wanted to sing with them someday) called me and ask me to come audition for the first Exceptions female vocalist position.  I did and was accepted! I sang with the Exceptions for about 2 years and then moved on to perform with the popular Heartland Band!  When we disbanded I wanted to keep this group going so I formed the Heartland Trio.  In the trio I also played keyboards and keyboard bass!  After about 5 years or so of that, I then re-joined the Exceptions!  Some years later, I heard a band called Modern Holiday that already had a female vocalist, but they were awesome.  So they created a position for me and that is where I met my current husband, Ric Barron.  I thought he was fabulous!  After Modern Holiday disbanded, Ric and I formed the Holiday Trio.  After the Holiday Trio disbanded due to Phil Lewis’ death, Ric and I both joined the Exceptions!  I performed locally and regionally with the Exceptions for many, many years.  At one point we retired from the Exceptions and started our own Christian duo called 1 of 2 Ministries.  Ric and I won first place in the International Christian Artists’ Association Competition in the duet category!  We continued the ministry and then were asked to once again re-join the Exceptions.  We stayed with the Exceptions until February of 2009, when Ric and Danl Blackwood rekindled their desire to perform together and they formed my current group The CATZ!!!

Although I could be more specific on dates and times……..that is it in a nutshell.  I have been singing and entertaining every genre of audience since I was 19 years old!  I can’t stop singing!  Thanks for reading about me……..now come check us out!!!
